he rear two cars
don’t platform in Bedford.
Things you learn when
you ride the train.

And your body starts
to compensate for the rocking
so that you remain still.
It begins to anticipate
the sharp jump and
the moment when no one track
is your master.

Heracles said ‘Life is Flux’
but it isn’t.
Life is the balancing act
between then and now
the fantastic art of limbo.

The rails offer a limited freedom
Point A to B
and back again.
What one does when they arrive
is another story.
And back again.
